Cantabria offers great beaches and a stunning mountain range that stretches from east to west. Casa Pygmalion is less than ten minutes from the beaches of Somo, Loredo, Langre y Galizano, and twenty minutes from the mountains. We are twenty minutes from the elegant city of Santander and close to scores of beautiful towns and villages like Lierganes, Santillana and Comillas.

ASON AND SOBA
This paradise for cavers, hikers and climbers is practically unknown, even to Cantabrians, and it's ideal to escape from absolutely everyone except the odd shepherd and spend the day hiking through dramatic limestone landscape. We have routes to suit all tastes and cavers will find ample information for underground expeditions. And try the hot chocolate and 'picatostes' in Ampuero in the way home.

NANSA, SAJA AND BESAYA
This is the traditional heartland of Cantabria and is home to the rivers Saja, Nansa and Besaya, moody forests and stunning mountains. It includes the largest Natural Park in Spain, the unspoilt village of Carmona , and hundreds of well signposted walks and routes. And they make the best cheese in Cantabria at 'Gomber' in Sopeña.

LAS COMARCAS DEL PAS, PISUEÑA Y MIERA
This mountainous area is home to the ‘Pasiegos' one of the most singular groups of people in Spain. Their nomadic lifestyle means moving herds of cattle from one highland pasture to the next. The area is also famous for its butter rich 'Sobaos' and 'Quesadas', while Casa Frutos in the village makes a mean 'Cocido Montañes': the local delicacy of beans, sausages, pork and berza.

LIÉBANA
The Hermida gorge is the gateway to Liebana and the Picos de Europa. Famous for its stunning scenery and high mountain routes, the Picos region is home to bears, wolves and eagles. It is also home to some excellent cheeses, ‘tostadillo' and ‘orujos' – honey or herb flavoured firewater.
